The
Clubhouse
Kirby Barnu built the first clubhouse as a summer hotel on the site
of the present sailors pavilion. It was rented from him in 1891
and used as a clubhouse until it was purchased by the club and remodeled
in 1899. This building was demolished in 1912 and a stately clubhouse
with accommodations for the golfers in the basement was built on the
same site. The second clubhouse was destroyed on the evening of October
18, 1937 by a fire of unknown origin. The third clubhouse was built
in 1938 by the firm of Clarence Johnston. This clubhouse was demolished
in the Fall of 1998 to make way for the new building designed by Yunker-Assmus
Architects which opened in the Spring of 1999. The new clubhouse
features tremendous new amenities as well as some of the best lake
views in the Twin Cities. A truly special place.
Other
significant events in the clubs history are immortalized by the
beautiful silver pieces in the trophy cases in the clubs lobby.
